An Even More Beautiful Lie (Yaoi Manga)
Painter Yukari Yohito will soon realize that despite all that he’s been through, leaving his umbrella on a train will be the one thing that changes his life. Completely in tune with his paintings, Yukari is a genius at the canvas; however he is completely useless at living life. One day fellow art student Kurosu Keiichiro realizes Yukari has forgotten his umbrella on the train and quickly tries to return it-- having been a huge fan of Yukari’s work, he strikes up a friendship. Keiichiro begins coming by to take care of things for the neurotic artist. However, the more he involves himself in Yukari's complex life the deeper Keiichiro's feelings begin to run. It's no longer mere friendship or even admiration that moves him, but just what should he do about it?
A beautifully painted story by Kei Kanai, this manga is to be seen and felt rather than simply read. Kanai’s creative technique is one of a kind in this dramatic, visual tale of friendship and romance.

I've read this book three times hoping my viewpoint on it would change but it still hasn't. The book is mediocre partly due to the pacing of the translations, but I'll keep an eye out for this mangaka's future work. The paneling got better as the story progressed though and the art is gorgeous, but I just couldn't get into it as much as I wanted to.A little more about the characters: you have Kurosu, the cool, mysterious, care-free, and not so artistically gifted guy attending the same art school as Yukari; an absent-minded and aloof person with a passion for painting, who meet and slowly develop feelings for one another that both parties have difficulties comprehending at first.
There is also a hint of a darker past for Kurosu that wasn't further explored, so you're left guessing about him as a person, and a little delving into Yukari's sad childhood that explains his behavior that if were fleshed out, would've not only added depth to the characters, but improve the story since their sweet, innocent, and new relationship had so much potential for growth.
All in all, the book description does a great job describing the story since that's practically how it develops. It isn't heavy in H scenes; it's pretty light (though there is an interesting scene in there), and the feel and art style is very similar to Takarai Rihito too, so if you're a fan of hers, you may enjoy this a lot more than me.

An Even More Beautiful Lie Yaoi Manga eBook Kei Kanai Reviews
I simply love this author. The story was fantastic and something that should definitely be read. I enjoyed this one so much.
I liked the story, particularly the psychological aspect of it, particularly the psychological exploration of obsession. However, if you want explicit love scenes in your yaoi novels, this doesn't have many bedroom scenes, and they are abbreviated.
Beautiful art, reminded me of Seven Days art. Story is a little basic and I could have done with a little more displays of affection, but the whole point of it is that period of wonder just before a relationship.
It was amazing and so surreal that it left you in a daze of passion and the ending was a perfect way for these two to become.
I was excited to read this as soon as I got it and was not at all disappointed. Its an adorable story line, with wonderful art. I must say though it may take a couple reads to fully catch it all but, that makes it even better because it doesn't become dull after the first initial read. I think this is a must-have for any otaku girl's collection!
the art work was very pretty, and I'm glad about that. The story was interesting kind of the reverse really. They sleep together then slowly build up a relationship. There's a hit that one of the characters might have a darker past so I enjoyed to subtle hits. Nice.
I liked it a lot. It's like romantic but just with the right amount. Thanks for making it wonderful. 😊
